Ocean Harvest Technology holds patents for its proprietary seaweed formulations in 33 countries including the EU, USA, Canada, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Japan.

Scalable Production

Ocean Harvest Technology has secure access to biomass from a network of hundreds of harvesters across Philippines, Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia. OHT’s proprietary seaweed blend is produced at its R&D, processing and distribution centers in Ireland and shipped to Vietnam to be added to finished formulas. Ocean Harvest Technology’s blending facilities in Vietnam has space for a third production line, which will increase utilization and peak capacity up to 10,000 tons per month.

Growing Market

Widespread environmental and health concerns have spurred consumer demand for natural, organic and sustainable farm products produced without the use of growth hormones, antibiotics and other synthetics. Increasingly, the EU and the US are passing legislation to limit the use of synthetic additives and antibiotics in feed ingredients. These powerful market drivers represent an opportunity for organic and sustainable feed ingredients such as Ocean Harvest Technology’s proprietary products.

Sustainable Production

Ocean Harvest’s products are produced in Ireland and South East Asia through a network of harvesters across Philippines, Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia. Ocean Harvest encourages all its harvesters / suppliers to strive towards GMP+ standards as outlined by our certifying body Control Union. These standards are in accordance with the Regulation (EC) No 834/2007 and Regulation (EC) No 889/2008 on organic production of agricultural products. 

Agreements with each harvester are outlined in our ‘Harvester Supplier Agreement’ Form, which ensures supply quality and continuous sustainable harvesting methods as outlined in our Sustainable Harvesting Plan.

Product Quality Assurance

Our approach to feed safety includes the internationally recognized Hazard Analysis and adheres to the standards and requirements for feed safety assurance under the GMP+B2 (2010) scope. Ocean Harvest monitors the quality of its products using detailed work agreements and frequent site visits to each of its suppliers. 

The risks (if any) associated with each harvester are assessed and documented. This determines the frequency of site visits/monitoring required for each supplier. Each harvesting site is visited on a regular basis with records of these visits documented in our in-house checklists and harvesting site visit reports. According to our Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) there is 100% testing for key quality parameters on incoming products to ensure feed safety.

Responsible Manufacturing

Ocean Harvest Technology Ltd Ireland and Vietnam acknowledge and support its Code of Conduct, based on the SA 8000 standard from Social Accountability International (SAI) and seek to conform to its standards and provisions as emphasized on the code of conduct. Areas covered are as follows: Child Labor, Freely Chosen Employment, Health and Safety, Freedom of Association, Discrimination, Harsh or Inhumane Treatment, Working Hours and Minimum Wages.
